Our last pre-COVID activity was a wedding at Hever Castle, just a few weeks before 1st lockdown. It was rather special having the whole place to ourselves for the weekend. It has a remarkable history, even in the 20th century when William Waldorf Astor restored it and had the river moved! Most of us struggle with making a pond so the work required for that was immense. Helps if you are a billionaire of course.
It would have been nice if he had just restored the little manor house and built his folly in the grounds. I remember seeing a program about it, I was surprised just how small the Manor had been, all these historical films make it look massive. We've not been there for must be 25 years, I expect it's all changed since then.
