Here in the North-West, we're promised several dry days from tomorrow.

We aren't used to the hot, dry weather we had this year. Record breaking for the west of Scotland. Bl**dy horrific!  :D
Our ground [clay] never really dries out, but I had to water occasionally. Unheard of.  ;)
Just for you Fairygirl here are the latest up to the present  sunshine figures around the UK.

    Manchester    1318 hours
    Belfast           1160
    Edinburgh        1132
    London          1087

Ps London usually has between 200 and 300 hours more than the rest of them, being about 30 miles further south!

    Cheers!

PPS that should read 300 miles not 30!

I don't know what ours would be in an average year @Braidman, but considerably less than this year anyway!
Edinburgh is on the 'drier' side of Scotland [east is drier than west ] but this year it's been a bit back to front in that respect too.
I just hope this isn't the pattern we're going to start getting here. I'll have to move to Sutherland if it is  :D

I must have annoyed the rain gods getting the hose out yesterday. It's been heavy rain for most of the day since lunch time.

A few little showers, very windy. Today bright and sunny. Hubby said it hasn't stopped raining for months-, obviously forgot he had the hose out last week! Forecast here for this weekend here is 18c. Apparently we here had 1878 hours of sun, the same as Milan.

2 degrees last night here. Still 2 just now. Looking like a nice day ahead though before the rain comes back in tonight.
Our annual rainfall average will have been affected a fair bit after this year  ;)
There's still concern about water levels in reservoirs and lochs up here. It's quite unbelievable.

You really should have known better @Balgay.Hill   :D

I planted a few trees recently, so the hose comes out if there has been no rain in the previous week. The garden is on a slope, so drains quite quickly. I wouldn't usually have to water at this time of year, but as you know there has been hardly any rain up here.

Indeed @Balgay.Hill, although I think lots of eastern areas have had more than usual this year - probably a bit further north than you mostly though.
You'd definitely need it for newly planted trees if it's freer draining soil and a drier week. Hope they establish well   :)
