It can be tricky @B3. I bought a huge one [very cheaply] when I moved in here about 8 years ago. It's done very well, but started falling apart a few years ago. I painted it though, and varnished it, which helped. I've also patched it up a bit, just to get my money's worth I mainly use it for just storing plants/shrubs waiting for a new home though, and it's out of sight.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

For terracotta pots I try and group near the house and throw a double fleece over them. When we have hard freezes like we had earlier this year I took them into the shed.
It's a bit of chew on but better than having to replace them every year or so.
