  • I bought an Aster dumosus Blue Lapis last year, because I fell in love with the colour. It was quite short in the pot, but having made it through a tough winter it has grown to its listed height (50cm) and is flowering beautifully.
All the write-ups call it 'true blue' and while I wouldn't quite say that myself, it is the nearest I have seen. The buds are very dark, almost navy and open to a stunning dark purplish blue, getting gradually lighter as they age and the bright yellow disks really contrast well. In some lights it is very close to blue and Little Carlow looks quite pinkish next to it.
