Sugar helps tree roots?

    Bleach and sugar is the best for cut flowers.
    That's basically what's in those little sachets you get with a bought bouquet  :)
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

    Most credible sources suggest this is unnecessary or harmful, which makes sense when you consider sucrose (sugar) doesn't naturally occur in soil.

    Given how soluble sugar is in water I think it would get washed out very quickly, certainly fast enough that ants couldn't make use of it.
