Bleach and sugar is the best for cut flowers.
That's basically what's in those little sachets you get with a bought bouquet
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Most credible sources suggest this is unnecessary or harmful, which makes sense when you consider sucrose (sugar) doesn't naturally occur in soil.

Given how soluble sugar is in water I think it would get washed out very quickly, certainly fast enough that ants couldn't make use of it.
