Plants
I noticed this plant growing in the grounds of Canterbury Cathedral this weekend. I was unable to find a name plate for it. It looks a bit like a bamboo plant. With large heart shaped leaves and wispy pink flower heads.

Is it a type of Knotweed?
Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.

I can see why both of these suggestions make sense. The main stem of the plants where about 3cm diameter at the base and stood around 6-7’ high.
Does this mean that it would be a non-invasive knotweed ?

Interesting, pendulous flowers.
I think it is Persicaria orientalis.

Yes Thank you. The more I read about this plant the more I agree.
It’s also commonly mistaken for Japanese Knotweed.
It was scattered throughout the grounds of Canterbury Cathedral which made me think, it wasn’t JKW.
Beautiful flowers swaying in the breeze and standing tall and strong.
