Three roses, one is droopy :)

Hi all, a few will know I'm a newbie :) I have inherited some garden pots from my late mum, three have roses in, two are doing really well and one (last pic) is looking very droopy and limp?

Not sure why or what i am doing wrong with it. They all get the same watering, every other day in summer, feed once a week, no greenfly etc.

Any ideas what i can do to help this poor thing :)

Hopefully, the other two are Happy and Doc?  ;)

Sorry I can't provide a useful answer (I'm sure that the experts will be along soon) but couldn't resist (using poetic licence!).

  • Hi - it looks very healthy to me. What seems to be happening is that the weight of the blooms is pulling them down. `Droopy` blooms are quite common in new roses, as the canes are still too thin to provide support. Should get stronger as it ages. Another possibility is that it is a climbing rose and needs physical support - do you know what variety it is?

Sorry but no idea, there were no tags. Mum would have known the names so would not have kept tags but not with us any more. Its doubtful it was a climber but again, can't tell.
  • We are heading into winter so the plant will be slowing down but you need to support the stems by tying them to canes as per @Pianoplayer. The other thing that can drag the blooms down on young plants is heavy and prolonged rain. Next year, they will be stronger but I would also advise tying then to canes to help them till you see how they perform.
