Dahlia petals being cut/eaten

This morning I noticed some of the petals on my Dahlia's have been cut or eaten. I've looked at pictures of petals eaten by earwigs that seem a bit 'ragged' but these look more like they've been cut, rather like a 'leaf-cutter' bee (or something like it), has anyone any ideas to what might be causing this?  Thanks in advance.

I know earwigs love them @colinmorris57, so it's most likely to be that. Little b*****s  ;)
Leaf cutter bees don't cut flowers - just foliage.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
