If I could see bird poo on the berries I wouldn't pick them,it's pretty distinct, but people pick wild berries that dog's have likely peed on. Fairy,do you mean you actually eat the berries still frozen? I often have a smoothie for breakfast.
Wild berries - always pick from above dog-leg-cocking height :D.
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained

    Indeed @JennyJ ;)
I had a lovely snack of brambles coming off a hill a few years ago in early August. Not far from the car. Just the ticket. Made up for the 'not very thrilling' hill  :D
I do my porridge in the microwave @Nanny Beach [I'm very fussy about the way my porridge is done ] and then I add the rasps near the end. By the time it's ready to eat a few mins later, they're spot on.  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • Raspberries will keep for a long time in  the freezer a few weeks ago I found a box full dated  2018 and they tasted lovely in a crumble with with apple, Regarding to making jam I found some blackberry jelly, raspberry, raspberry and lime,  strawberry  we made in  2018 and it had kept all that time and it still tasted as fresh as though we had only made it a week or so ago, Why they have to put all these additives in to prolong shelve live and use by dates on jams, tins of fruit, and other tins of meat is beyond me, no wonder  stuff gets into land fill, what did we used to do years ago we used our nose, I am sure a lot of these stomach upsets and allergic reactions people have are from all these additives that they must put in food. Regards to washing fruit and veg we only them if the have soil on them like strawberries and root veg.
