  • I use camellia oil and a cleaning block to get gunk and rust of secateurs. I only tend to do it when they start looking shabby.

    Camelia oil is available from Niwaki and many bonsai outlets, I guess it must be widely used in Japan (makes sense with it coming from camelias!)

    Yes - when you have a load of suitable shrubs, make use of them!
