Plant I.D.

New build landscapers planted a row of shrub on our plot. 

The plants have taken well, flowering white during the summer. I am wondering what species they are in order to purchase some more. The landscapers say it is Ceanothus, but I am wanting further clarification.

    They look like Escallonia to me.

    Same here, if white flowers then likely Escallonia ‘Iveyi’

    Best to remove any leaves with yellow/black spots (I can see a couple in your photos) and to pick any off the ground as well. I lost my Escallonia plants to leaf spot this year.

    I'd agree - Escallonia.
    The white one [Iveyi] isn't as tough, so if it's that, and you're in a colder, wetter area, it's unlikely to thrive. 
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....



    I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
