Am I supposed to remove weeds after using weed killer?

I used weedol on my lawn which is more weed than grass. Do I now remove the weeds manually 2 weeks on?

They're still green and that indicates your Weedol hasn't worked.   You should have seen results fairly quickly but it does take 2 weeks to get down to the roots and kill them off by which time the visible parts should be looking sorry for themselves.

Did you use the correct concentration and/or did it rain soon after you applied it?  Both of those will affect its effectiveness.

  • @Obelixx I’m sure I used the correct amount but I could be wrong. We had a light shower 3 days after use.

bizarrely the leaves went a bit furry.

Would it be bad to use the weedol again? Label says once a year.

I don't know, to be honest, as I haven't used Weedol for over 30 years.    You'd have to read the instructions to see if they give any guidance.

  • What would you use on a ‘lawn’ like mine @Obelixx?

Nothing.   I don't do neat lawns.  I like them to be green but it doesn't have to be grass so weeds don't bother me and speedwell, clover and daisies are welcome as they provide nectar for all sorts of insects and pollinators and indirectly provide food for birds.  At the mo we have lots of hardy cyclamen dotted about in the grass.

I do grub out dandelions and any thistles that turn up.   Other than that my main problem is getting OH to keep the blades set high.  Since he's retired he's taken it upon himself to cut the "lawns".

  • Haha your post made me chuckle. I’ve had the ‘natural’ lawn for too long. I’m jealous of people with lush green grass.

Much too boring!  Go for biodiversity.  Much more entertaining.
