The spammers aretrying to get you to buy their rubbish @midnightblue - and not paying for their advertising which isn't allowed on the forum    :)

When the spam/advertising post gets enough flags, it disappears so the following posts are out of context.

That's why I always tag the spammer' s name @JennyJ, but that's obviously been overlooked.... ;)
That spammer had already posted umpteen times elsewhere.

Overlooked....... or didn't know that the post disappears if it gets enough flags.  I didn't know flags were only for spammers posts. Couldn't a post be flagged because it was rude or for other reasons?

The flagging system has been around since the update many years ago.  :)
Yes - it [the Flag icon]  can be used to report other things, but there's a choice when you select the option - either Flag or Report.

We've been plagued by these people in the last week or two. Forum members help by using the system to notify the mods. If we didn't - the forum can easily be overrun by spam - to the extent that no queries can be seen, as happens with the kitchen spammers etc when they get going. It's also extremely unfair on genuine businesses who pay for their advertising elsewhere on the site. If no one pays - the site wouldn't be free for us all to use.  :)

I take your point but your comment above seems to have discouraged a new and nice member. I'm sure that's not what you intended. A little care in your comments would not go amiss.

You also seem to have missed the point @Redwing.
I tagged the spammer's name, so that people can see the problem poster. If people can't see that, it's not my fault. Perhaps I should just let the spammers take over the forum completely so that queries can't be seen at all - which has happened before - many times   :)
I'm not here to pick a fight with anyone either. I spend a lot of time helping people [including many new members]  where I can on this forum - especially when I'm not well and I'm inside a lot.
Which is the case at the moment.

I'll leave you all to it then.

Very unpleasant comments here, I won't be using this website again.
I don't think I missed the point @Fairygirl.  See the above quote.  The only unpleasant post I saw was yours; if there were others they had been removed without me seeing them. I'm sorry you're not well. Some of your posts are a little sharp though. A new member asked for help and I offered some advice so I am in on this thread as well and I genuinely didn't see the point of your unpleasant comment, nor did the OP.

How did I know you were going to advertise @rikkis045PGSjsgTS...
Not funny. Pay up or p*** off.   :)
So the OP thought this was aimed at them, and so did you? Despite the spammer's name being in the sentence?
    Why?   :)

I 'd already given some advice to the OP. Why would I suddenly be rude to them? It makes absolutely no sense.
I also explained about the spammers just after that.
Oh well. You can lead horses to water   :)

Calm down. Maybe do some gardening. I was not advertising that and I know it wasn't aimed at me. No more from me on this subject.
