Can I dig up my Allium bulbs now?

ElferElfer Posts: 329
Bought Alliums in pots from GC back in in spring and planted them, they flowered and have obviously shed all their greenery. Can I dig them up now and replant at a different location or do I have to wait a bit more. I live in southwest.

The sooner the better. They will begin to regrow pretty soon as they are winter growers,

Got my 5 Allium Mount Everests out and as a bonus I have 3 little ones but not sure what to do with these, shall I plant the little ones in pots?

Will the mature bulbs be ok to be planted straight back into my border which has chalky soil enriched with compost?

The sooner you get them back in the soil the better. As I said, they are cold weather growers so they will begin to form roots about now and the leaves will appear a little later.
Since I am not that good at keeping bulbs alive in pots, I usually put the babies back in the soil with the parents.
