  • Looks like Ipoemea purpurea… Morning Glory

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

It's an Ipomea (common name Morning Glory.)  Looks like it might be from seeds of Ipomea 'Black Knight'

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

    Thank you 🙏
  • If you can collect seeds and sow them next year to continue the flowering season.
Keep the seeds in a dry place (old envelope) and sow them either indoors to plant out or directly sow when the weather is frost free (May?).
This is what we do and we have had a fabulous flowering display and I will be collecting seeds again.
Ones that I don't collect though don't appear to germinate the next year in the same area.

The variety "Grandpa Ott" is similar as well. Mine self-sowed from last year.
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained

I grow Blk. Knight and I'd say they're much darker than the photo, but purples can be variable in photos.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
