Comfrey Feed

I am new to comfrey feed making and have just finished my first batch.  Clearly though, the season is nearly over and I just wondered how long the comfrey tea would store for? Also, if it only stores for say, 6 months, could I dry the comfrey leaves and make the feed with the dried leaves?  If so, would I need to reduce the amount of leaves as dried would be stronger?  Sorry fir all the questions.  TIA!

I've never made it @liz.smith, but lots of people on the forum have, so hopefully they can help you   :)
I'd have thought it would keep until spring though.
I'm not sure the dried leaves would work.
I'll tag  @BobTheGardener - as I know he uses it, and @Pete.8 might also be able to advise.   :)

Sorry, it's not something I've ever made, but I suspect once made it has a relatively short shelf-life due to its nature, but I've no idea tbh
Hopefully Bob can shed some light

Sorry @Pete.8 - I thought you'd used it. Bob certainly has.

I think @Obelixx might use it - or has in the past.  :)

  • I've kept it in old plastic 2l pop bottles for up to 2 years and can't say I see any difference between using that and 'fresh' stuff. :)

  • Hi @liz.smith,

I've just made a batch here ... which will be ready in about 3 weeks or so.
I'm unlikely to use it all this autumn, and expect to finish using it next spring.
I've done this many times and the plants I use it on all seem OK.

Thank you for all of your friendly and useful responses 😊. Based on what you’ve said, I’ll get this batch out of the way then and get another batch underway before the winter sets in.
