Hebe help please

Hi All, I’m a novice container gardener and I’m seeking your advice on how and where abouts on the stem to pinch out some hebes I’ve bought. I’ve added a photo of the little fellas which I potted a couple of days ago. Many thanks

    They're very over potted IMO.
I'd have put them in pots of around 3 to 4 inches. They're really just cuttings.
There isn't anything to pinch out.  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Thanks @Fairygirl They do look a bit lost in those pots, I’ll repot as you’ve suggested. Should I then just leave to grow? Will I need to pinch them at some point in order for them to bush out?

when they’re bigger and have settled in you can pinch out the top two leaves.
I would put them in small pots as @Fairygirl said,  they need to work at rooting and will get too wet in the big pots. Then pot them on as the roots fill the pots until they’re big enough for the final pots.
Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.

  • Thanks @Lyn, I’ll do exactly that 🙂

    As @Lyn says  :)

Also - the variegated ones are less tough than the red or greens, so over watering, and soggy compost won't be helpful for them  :)

  • Thank you @Lyn and @Fairygirl :) I’ve followed your advice and repotted today and moved them to a more sheltered spot. Fingers crossed I can keep them growing :)
