Propagating in water? For or against?

  • I don't Have any luck getting cuttings to root in compost. My salvias are only tiny one stem first year nothing to cut off. My old man does well with roses,just bungs them in the ground.     Roses are best just bunged in a trench and left. 
    I remember my mum having seed trays around with bits of  Begonia Rex.

  • I love the sight of all the cuttings awaiting their roots. But I personally put "polar goblins" (lol) and salvia cuttings in compost, probably missing a trick though. But actually, I try to bring as many pelagorniums inside as my window sills can fit before the frosts, to enjoy their blooms all winter, then take cuttings in spring.
  • 6 days in!!!! Ipomoea batatas in purple, light green and variegated leaf. 
    I'm amazed at the speed of these 😊
