I bought some Crocus Chrysanthus Cream last year (from Gee Tee), on Dove's recomm, and were gorg. Very much hoping they will arise again. Quite short, stubby and self supporting - which was the appeal. I can't stand crocus that flop and collapse everywhere like a princess with a cold.

I was looking at that one too @Fire
I thought it would make a nice contrast to the lilac blue of the Grand Maitre and warm the display up a bit.
But I think I'll have a sore enough digit making holes for the 600 I've ordered.
I'll see what it looks like in the spring

Dibbers might be the way forward.
  • I have always bought snowdrops in the green from Eurobulbs ....around February.
    Mail order.
    Always been delighted.
In new garden here planted 9,000 .7/8 years ago.

    1000 now £95.00

Ebay is worth a look at the appropriate time as well. I ordered Winter Aconite in the green on there and they all came up. (Actually the seller made an error and sent bulbs that weren't in the green initially; but replaced them without asking for a return. The original bulbs came up fine, just a little later!)

Thanks SS and Loxley - I'll see what it looks like in Spring and decide what to do from there.
The area where I'll plant the crocus is all prepared, but the rest of the area is going to need a lot of topsoil before I can do much with it and I should probably plant perennials etc before the snowdrops, so I'll get it sorted in the next couple of months and plant up in the spring.

Cream Beauty is another nice crocus too - in fact, there are loads! Snow Bunting is another nice white one. It'll keep you busy anyway  ;)
My sister used an eBay site for snowdrops in the green too @Loxley. Somewhere in the Borders I think.  She got them all planted out this spring, so it'll be interesting to see how well they do.

  • My bulbs usually come from Boston Bulbs. They cater to the councils , so in bulk, and what you need us about £18. They do have a few to choose from, including doubles @Pete.8

Be careful...I am now addicted. Just a small garden. But i can always find room for a few special snowdrops...it is not a cheap hobby.!

I have used e bay to buy special named snowdrops.
Most have been excellent quality from keen Galanthophiles.
Keep the names for future use of the good ones.
Beware  of end of season new sellers.

Make sure you know what the flowers should look like.
I paid a lot to buy 1 x Gal Diggory...a seersucker, fat, bulbous flower...see pics below.
I received Gal nivalis... with a slim, thin flower
I reported it to seller and got it sorted....amicably.

Gal Three ships is  very special/fab as it is in flower before 25th Dec and cos weather is cold then the flowers last for ages.
