Fungus or what?

I have an outdoor planter that I have plants in, all doing very well. I noticed a few weeks ago this white round fungus, similar texture to a mushroom but totally white, some are quite big. I removed them all on Saturday and today there are about 8 little ones back. Can someone tell me what they are, are they poisonous? How can I get rid of them? Thanks

It's pretty normal at this time of year. Most fungi are totally harmless and do a very important job in the garden.
If you have a photo, someone will be able to ID it for you though.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

Thanks for your reply, I cant get any photos to download for some reason.
  • Sometimes they won’t appear because they’re too large … try reducing the sizes a bit. 😊

Caution! Use disposable gloves if you handle this mushroom. There is a white mushroom like this which is deadly - Destroying Angel, Amanita virosa.

Can you post a photo showing the underside and stem? I am keen to see if there is a skirt around the stem and if the stem arises out of an egg like sac just below ground.
