I have a small back garden and a tiny plot at the front, so it's easy for me, but I have bought a few sonics over the years and triangulated them so most areas of the garden are covered. It all takes a while to work out, and for the cats to catch on - it's not an instant solution. But it has certainly made me more keen to garden. The springs were esp bad, not having been out much in the winter to clear up. The garden were just steam cat toilets in the spring and I'd have to clear out the heaps of crap everywhere which was just beyond disgusting. I would never have grown fruit or veg with that going on.
  • In a previous garden I used Lion Poo bought from a local GC. Then it disappeared from the shelves. I have seen Lion Poo in boxes for sale again in a local GC. in the last few weeks. It definitely helped when I tried it. Fine black netting spread over soil also helps, cats do not like getting their claws caught on it and it is invisible.
I agree that cats these days do not seem to bury their business like they used to. I am not sure which is worse, poo you see, easily picked up and dispensed with or buried and trodden on or putting your hand in when weeding.

    Netting doesn't work @Joyce Goldenlily.....
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • I have a dog which works wonders for keeping cats out (not that she would hurt them, she just sits there wagging her tail looking at them).

My brother lives a few doors down and we are in a cat hotspot. He/we have befriended my next door neighbours cat who loves his garden and it's worked wonders as she keeps pretty much every other cat out of there. You do find the odd steaming pile from someone sneaking in but not like his neighbours on either side that look like they have molehills, or turd hills, all over their gardens. One neighbour chooses to hiss at the cats and come out banging a pan and the other uses sonic devices, which seemingly do nothing, and a water pistol, which does work well.
So sometimes a bit of kindness works best.
  • Have found nothing works in our garden or my daughter's. We have 2 dogs. I have a sonic thing, which hurts my daughter's and grandaughters ears. One thing I haven't tried is,get a bit of cat poo from a friend and place it, apparently cats have a particular "route" a certain distance from their home. Glad to give you a quid Hosta
