What's wrong with my hydrangea

I noticed tonight that my hydrangea looks quite sick. Planted in a border that get full sun. It was flowering and green all summer, but August onwards it turned. Can anyone help?

In full sun they get crispy and dry out. Spring and autumn sun is ok, but full on summer sun is very difficult for them to deal with.
It's right up against a wall too, which is always drier.

Most of them become very large shrubs, and there isn't enough room there for it do well for the reasons mentioned. Easy enough to move it to a better location though, especially at this time of year.
