What's this pretty blue-flowered weed?

I am less than overzealous in the amount of weeding I do in my wild flower patch. This morning I was greeted by these very pretty blue flowers. I'd love if anyone could tell me what they are.

Not sure, but it may be a type of speedwell?

    Flax possibly?

Looks like blue flax, Linum lewisii.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
  • Looks very like a flax flower to me too … often found in wildflower mixes for pollinators.

  • @Pete.8, I think you could be right. I went out to have a closer look, but today's blooms are completely gone (I took the photo a few hours ago). There are more buds though, so I'll have a look again tomorrow and see if any more flowers have opened. If it is flax though, from what I've just read it typically blooms in June!

  • I think it must be a gift from a bird. I think it's quite lovely. :) Will I regret leaving it there?

  • I didn't use a seed mix, so it won't be that. It's right by my bird feeders. I always buy 'no grow' seeds, and whilst I know that's not a guarantee, the mix doesn't list linseed, so I think it's probably just courtesy of a visitor to the feeders.

I buy no grow seed but the Flax escapes and grows.  It’s a nice little plant.

There are fields of it here and there around here - they looks stunning
I get one pop up now and then - very welcome it is too and as you say likely thanks to the birds
