Moving to garden

I have rudbeckia and echinacea plants currently in pots which I want to plant into the garden.  Can I do this once the flowers have died off or, if not, when would be the best time?  I live in Cornwall so we have pretty mild winters.

If they have enough roots to hold the compost together, you can do it now. Maybe with an extra pair of hands to carefully hold the plants as you tip them out.
