Potting on rooted cuttings

I provided a picture to help explain my question.




I am potting on cuttings that have only sprouted roots from the very bottom of the twig. The dotted line above is the soil level of the pot they were just in. Do I need to strictly keep to this soil line when I put them in a new pot, or does it matter much as long as the roots are covered?

    You can often plant slightly deeper without any problem, especially if they're from shrubs and are firm, rather than the softer seedlings of perennials. I'm assuming they're the former as you said 'twig'. 
    The most important things are to have a good medium for them, and not to pot on into too big a pot.  :)
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

    I would say generally you pot them to the same level :) .
    What are they cuttings from ?

    What about planting less deep? I'm struggling to locate enough deep individual pots

    They’re a tough shrub, plant as you’ve shown they'll grow roots all along the stem.
    put a half inch or so layer of compost in a pot then gently lay the plant on top fill in with compost very gently.
