Ericaceous compost

shazza 3shazza 3 Posts: 197
good morning on this lovely sunny day. I went berserk in May and managed to buy compost online, as I needed some for my Acers, I also bought ericaceous as well. Unfortunately, i bought far too many bags of the ericaceous. Can i keep it for next year and will it still be ok to use ?? thanks

Yes, it'll be fine if kept under cover.  If the manufacturer added any nutrients, those may degrade, so best to add some ericaceous slow release fertilizer when you use it next year. :)

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

fab, that's what i was hoping. I was going to try and sell it but then i'd only need some again next year and it seemed a bit pointless. i shall keep it in my dry shed. thank you.

If you grow annuals or plant spring bulbs, most of those won't mind ericaceous compost, so you can always use some of it for that too.  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
