Pansy seeds

Once you cut off the seed stem and open the seed pod and if they're white is that it? Bin them? Or will they turn brown still?

Leave the seedcases on the plant to ripen. The cases will turn brown and brittle and pop open at a touch when they’re ripe. The seeds will be black. Place some white paper below the plant to catch them.

What if I've already snipped the seed stem off the plant?

Too late I’m afraid. The seeds will not ripen and be viable. Sorry.

  • You're too late I think, they need to ripen on the plant.

Thought I'd check. Good job I did. Haha. Must of got them as they'd finished the seed process and just before the husk started going brown.

Suppose the test now will be in the germination.

No good, you may as well put them on the compost heap and save the next lot when they’re ripe. The seed pods will be very dark brown or black when they’re ready.
