Hi, I bought this twisted hazel around 3/4 years ago. It hasn’t given any more branches than what came with it, each year they grow leaves turn green around this time of year then die back for winter. It was in a small pot so I potted into a bigger pot at the beginning of the year but it still hasn’t done anything except trying to throw up some suckers. Can someone give any advice? If I prune it now will it produce any in time for winter or am I too late

What sort of compost is it in?
Does it have plenty of water?
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
I suggest planting it out in your garden.
Hazels are large shrub/trees.
In summer the leaves are gnarled, look dry and sickly.
It is in spring that the look fab covered in the male flowers the yellow catkins.
Pic 3 below shows the tiny female flowers.
Suggest you cut all dead branches off this one.
It is autumn almost.
Deciduous shrubs and trees will soon change color before dropping all the leaves for the winter. Next spring new leaves should grow...if you give it TLC
Pot very small.
It wants to be a big shrub..it needs strong roots .
Plant in the garden asap.
