Please help to identify!

Hello there,
I’ve recently moved home and begun to tackle the garden! In one of the borders, I’ve dug up several of these (see picture attached), yet I’ve no idea what they are! Can anyone help?

James.

Hi @jamesandrewtaylor33 and welcome to the forum  :)

Can you leave them until they develop leaves and/or flowers  ... then we stand a chance of identifying them ... they could be some sort of autumn flowering bulb or something ... but until we have a bit more to go on  .... 🤔

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

Is it plant or animal? How big is it? Could it be a dropped off bud from a nearby plant?
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Yes I think that might be our best bet!

It’s definitely plant material. Can’t think what I may have dropped from nearby either 🤔

I think spanish bluebell. I dig up ones that look like that from time to time. I suspect they're in the process of either splitting themselves or pulling themselves down deeper.
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained
  • I'd agree with @JennyJ - plenty here :(
