Is it ok to mix top soil and multi purpose together, if so what ratio?

Depends what you’re planning to use it  for 😊

To  use it in trugs, I have only been using multi purpose but it has dried out so quickly so need something to mix with it to hold the moisture.

Good idea, I’ve got top soil in my big box containers, I just top up if I have any small amounts of compost.
There’s  no goodness in bought compost and not much more in home made, they’re just soil improvers.

It's even recommended. Starts your plants off with your local biolife mix and prepares them better for local pests. If you have those fabric sided trugs don't go overboard with the soil, it's a lot heavier and will break through the fabric. If you only have small trugs you might want to consider a water retaining gel/powder, the stuff they sell for hanging baskets.
