Sunflower die-back

Does anyone recognise what this is? See stem and leaves.

I have 4 sunflowers and this is the only one of the 3 with this. Not sure how much it's affecting the plant as it's the only one not yet well into flower. There are buds but on the smaller side.

    I wonder if that's been slug damage at one point? 
    I've got something similar on a tomato, but it doesn't seem to affect the plant. 
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

    Mmm I don't think it is slugs, the leaves just look like they've decided to rot almost. It's fairly widespread on the plant.

    It towers over me as well, 7-8ft tall so they'd be committed slugs.

    We've had slugs on our upstairs bedroom windows after heavy rain.  

    Maybe if the slugs damaged the plant then an infection could've got in and caused the leaves to rot?

    Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

    They regularly climb the walls here - and it's covered in crushed shell.....
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
