Anyone claiming the roots go down 7m must have been toking on a crack pipe and needs to get our more.
Harsh, but as GW sarcasm goes, that made me spit my tea 🤣.. Up to 7ft according to t'interweb, not 7m. Mind you, I can easily imagine some of us climbing out of a 7m hole, proudly holding the end of a root aloft like the ultimate trophy of smug victory, while everyone around looks nonplussed..
It must have been trying to set up shop in Australia
There is no doubt it's a tough bugger. It is the plant version of The Terminator and harder to get rid of than Knotweed but keep chipping away and it will eventually give up. We are human beings, it is a weed, it's not a triffid.
... easy. Just dig down and remove the roots, burn them. Rinse and repeat until gone.

location: Surrey Hills, England, ex-woodland acidic sand. "Have nothing in your garden that you don't know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful."
Before laying the new lawn I dug as much of it out as I could see. I’ve had the new lawn down a few months and already it’s everywhere 😖.
Mainly on the edges of the lawn, but also popping up sporadically in the middle of the lawn.
I started trying to control it by pulling it out by hand above ground level, but I’m sure it’s just making it worse and it seems to come back with several other shoots. So I’m not sure if I should continue doing that?!
Obviously I can’t dig up my lawn now and probably all I can really do is mow, although I’m afraid the mower is just going to spread it around even more!

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
