Weed ID

Hi all,

Anybody know what weed this is?

It seems to pop up in the raised bed next to my decking.

🤔

Thank you in advance.

Hairy bittercress … needs to be pulled up before it’s got those seed pods!!!

    Bugger!

Luckily it’s a tiny bed and could definitely do with some new soil and compost.

I’ll probably replace it all next spring.

    Thank you @Dovefromabove

It loves fresh new soil … it’ll find its way there 😡

    Bloody weeds.

I’ll add it to the list of enemies I’ve started compiling.

You could make plasticine models and stick pins in them 😉

  • If they do seed be careful when you pull them up as the seeds spring out and into your eyes if not careful.
You can eat the stems but we have never tried.

Hmmmmm…. I could pop it in my salad with some herb Robert. 😂

Herb-robert was traditionally used as an antiseptic, as well as to treat stomach upset and nosebleeds.

Its leaves are edible and used by some to make tea. They have also been used crushed and rubbed on the skin as an insect repellent.

Still wouldn't try it for tea though.

Chickweed is good in a salad or an egg Mayo sandwich. 😋

See now I want to just leave the weeds and use them for dinner.

Can bindweed be used on bruschetta instead of basil maybe? 🤔
