Anemone honorine jobert - limp flowers

Does anyone know what is wrong with my anemone? The flowers on one of the stalks all of a sudden went totally limp. The leaves on that stalk also look twisted. I cut out the whole stalk - see attached photo. The rest of the plant seems healthy. It’s a well established plant (probably 10 years) and has always done well.

That stem may simply have been damaged lower down. Happens quite often  :)
Not really possible to tell from the photo.
Rest of the plant looks fine.  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • Thank you Fairygirl! I did check all the way down the stem but I couldn’t see any damage anywhere. Well we’ll see if any of the other stems start showing the same.
  • Yes exactly like that :-). Except mine was only on one flower stem. I checked the soil too and it’s moist all around the plant.

It will be using a lot of moisture as it's a large plant. Remember that if there's a lot of planting nearby, and when plants are fully in foliage, the rain doesn't always penetrate well enough, so it can be easy for the ground to dry out, and the white ones do prefer a moister soil.
I still think the plant looks healthy enough though, so I don't think there's anything major there to worry about.  :)

I kept mind well watered and moved it (as it was in a pot in full sun) and it didn't happen again after that.

I thought I had lost it when we moved in April and we had a week of really cold/frosty nights.  I kept it and planted it in a raised bed and now it's about to flower.  Very pleased.
