Yellow privet problem....

I inherited a mixed privet hedge the yellow privet has been dying off for a few years now. I cannot find a reason why. Last year I cut all of the bad hedging out & it seems to have stemmed the problem but some leaves still have discolouration like rust. Any ideas would be gratefully received
