I did all my own flowers, It was a lovely relaxing evening spent with the bridesmaids and a nice day out foraging the mushrooms for the table decorations. Not stressful in the slightest. May is a bit early but if you can find some you can cut hawthorn, apples/pears will probably be in flower
I agree with @Skandi … it all depends on your style … you don’t have try to copy the professional florists … simple posies of garden and hedgerow flowers and foliage to carry, and sprays of blossom and foliage in jugs on tables will look beautiful, if you're going for the natural country-side look rather than the more usual florist’s style.
But keep an eye on the weather forecast … if heavy rain and high winds are forecast you may have to pick the flowers a few days early and bring them on under cover in buckets of water.
Have plenty of plastic buckets available and a cool shed or garage to keep them in for a few days.
Good luck … don’t get too stressed about it … if simple is what you want then keep it very simple.
