Whats up with my cucumber leaves?
in Fruit & veg
A few weeks ago the leaves of my F1 passandra cucumbers started turning a blotchy yellow then brown, over time it has progressed to the rest of the leaves, sometimes the cucumbers are yellow also. At first i thought it was a mildew problem but i haven't found any signs of fungus on the leaves. Someone suggested it could be a magnesium deficiency so i have tried spraying the leaves with an epsom salt solution but it still seems to be progressing. I know its late in the season so at this point can't complain, its produced well but still i would like to know what's going on. I currently feed them once a week with tomorite.

It looks like odium - you could try some sulphur powder. But I think it's a bit late in the season (if they are outdoors). It comes from watering the leaves. Most plants prefer to be watered at the base.
I would imagine there will be someone more expert that will be able to advise you for next year's crop.
A couple of possibilities-
The leaves are working flat out to produce energy for the plant and they get worn out eventually and start to break down.
I'd guess that new leaves are not affected?
When you say some of the cucumbers are yellow too - are these good size fruits, or small fruits that turn yellow and drop off?
Another possibility is rot somewhere on the main stem that disrupts the flow of nutrients to the leaves, so they start to turn yellow and any fruits above the rot don't form properly and drop off.
I've had 118 fruits from my mini-munch plant so far this year and it's still producing - so I can't complain
