That tends to look better - look out for tiny flower buds lurking under the first or second leaves down the stem and cut above them, if they exist. Definitely worth deadheading cosmos, which will then continue flowering until the frosts.

If you need help with IDs of plants, take some photos - distance and close up, and start a thread with a suitable title. If you keep it to around 3 or 4 different ones on a single thread, that makes it easier.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
