Any idea what has stripped the bark of my Robinia Lace Lady Tree, please. Happened very quickly (couple of days?). No real disturbance to plants below and mo sign of bark on the ground.
Apologies for the photo being on its side, but I didn’t know how to correct.
Definitely not a Deer. Could be a squirrel, but they have never been this naughty before!! Do you think the tree will be okay and is there anything I can do to protect it from disease?
There is stuff you can paint on tree cuts, deliberate ones but I think they are no longer recommended.
RHS says this: There is no need to use wound paints, as they are not thought to
contribute to healing or prevent disease. The exception is plums and
cherries (Prunus sp), where wound paint may be used to exclude silver leaf disease spores.
I'd move the bird feeder though as that is probably why it is happening
Thank you, that’s very helpful. I have already moved the Feeder and also some lower branches to lift the canopy. It’s lovely encouraging the wildlife, but preferably well behaved ones, please! 😃

grey squirrels aren't wildlife, they're vermin. When did you last see a red squirrel? It's like saying Japanese Knotweed are pretty plants.
