    Thanks @Blue Onion

I find it interesting that American society has stagnated in some respects. They’re ahead of most of the world in many aspects of modern technology yet, when it comes to chip and pin bank cards they’re 10 years behind Europe.

And as for environmental awareness, which this topic is broadly about, little composting, no green waste collection and heavy usage of garden chemicals. Wider still, over reliance on carbon fuels and massive under investment in public utilities. It sets me in mind of the UK in the 1960s and 70s.

  • Our lawn clippings are a vital part of our composting. We don’t bag them … they go straight onto the compost heap.

Same here, though sometimes used carefully as mulch where slugs and snails aren't an issue, like around fruit trees.
  • Wow - mowing 3+ acres!
I'd get a couple of goats if I had that much land I wanted to keep as grass!

@BenCotto I'm not proud of my native country's efforts on 'green' targets, activities, or progress.  This song always comes to mind when I consider my country's attitude towards the environment: https://youtu.be/UrgpZ0fUixs (Contains a number of swear words)

    Denis Leary - A%%hole

“You know what I'm gonna do?
I'm gonna get myself a 1967 Cadillac Eldorado convertible
Hot pink with whale skin hubcaps
    And all leather cow interior
And big brown baby seal eyes for head lights (Yeah)
And I'm gonna drive in that baby at 115 miles per hour
    Gettin' one mile per gallon
Sucking down Quarter Pounder cheeseburgers from McDonald's
In the old fashioned non-biodegradable styrofoam containers
And when I'm done sucking down those greaseball burgers
I'm gonna wipe my mouth with the American flag
And then I'm gonna toss the styrofoam containers right out the side
And there ain't a * thing anybody can do about it”

    As a former goatkeeper
(small dairy herd) … goats would be useless to keep your grass short … goats eat very little if any grass … they eat ‘browse’ … hedgerows and scrub.

You’d have to get sheep … or geese … or rear a couple of bullocks on your two acres.
