Hello all, I saw this in a public garden I visited yesterday and the bees were loving it so I thought look at getting some, but I'm not sure what it is! Can anyone let me please?

Yes - one of the Ligularias. Mine are always covered. Lovely plants.  :)
I have Britt Marie Crawford which has deep purple/maroon foliage with dark green undersides. Only problem is that slugs love the foliage as much as the bees love the flowers.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • Never would've guessed that one so thanks both. Shame to hear about the slugs!! I might try my luck still.

Our Ligularia przewalskii doesn't look like this but as others have said there are different ones.
We don't have slug problems only when there is little rain does it suffer.

Yes - that one has a different habit @bertrand-mabel. A more upright variety with spikes of flowers.  :)
You're right  - they don't like dry soil, but do like sun, so it can often be tricky getting the right site for them. Lovely when they're right though   :)
