I agree. If Green Man has one hungry slug the lobelias will be gone by morning.

I agree too. I got it once for a pondside in a previous garden. It lasted one night.  :)

I put one in and came out the next morning and assumed I had forgotten to plant it.

Did you think you'd had a senior moment!  :D

I've already apologised @Loxley. My mind was on two other things at the same time  :)

So you did. None of the other posts had appeared when I wrote mine!

I have my lobelia growing in a little water feature and it’s doing well. I couldn’t keep it uneaten  in the ground so decided to risk it. Seems to have worked.

My Lobelia cardinalis are in normal soil but underneath a hanging basket. That means when I water the basket I remember to water them as well plus they get the overflow drips from the basket. Fortunately my abundance of snails and slugs leave them alone.

Lythrum Dropmore Purple is flowering splendidly in the garden at the moment and probably will be showing off for the next month. It’s another plant that favours damp conditions according to the planting instructions but mine grows very happily in quite dry soil.

On the topic of senior moments, a while back I was in John Lewis and the customer at the till was getting flustered over something and apologised to the cashier for her senior moment. “No dear,” said the very pukka lady behind her in a crystal accent, “it’s a C.R.A.F.T. moment - can’t remember an effing thing.”
