What's This in my Pond?

Was perusing my pond and noticed this clinging to the side.

Am I correct in thinking it's a snail, and if so, should I keep it or dispose of it?

It's a snail.  Why would you want to dispose of it?

  • @Redwing Depends on whether or not it's considered a pest that'll do damage. As long as it's not destroying everything or likely to become invasive I'm happy for it to stay.

I have a wildlife pond.  It's got loads of snails of two species.  It adds to the diversity, food for many other species.

  • I've only got a half barrel pond so I don't want them going nuts. It's only 3 months old and I haven't acquired anything carnivorous yet that would keep a population down. That being said, I did almost stand on a frog/toad yesterday evening whilst walking past the pond but I don't know whether it's actually taken a dip or not.
