Blackfly

I have just discovered blackfly on my new Philadelphus plant. Has anyone found a solution to get rid of them?

Jet from a hose. Or your hand.  :)

A flame thrower should do it.

  • Flame thrower might damage the plant though😊
Have squished them in my fingers and squirted them with the hose. Will check again tomorrow.
  • It's the end of the season for those blighters...should go away. Fingers crossed @Chelseajane

Fingers.  A bit messy, but effective.

If they are being herded by ants, find the nest anstop the problem there.
location: Surrey Hills, England, ex-woodland acidic sand.

I’ve been doing the finger thing with aphids this year. I literally have green fingers when I’m done. Little buggers.
