Radishes

From this spring I have tentatively started to grow salad and veggies.  why do my radishes look nibbled (above ground). I only know ready to pull out when they peak from the soil, but then also get attacked. Thank you.

At least the culprit seems to have made a clean cut - you can still eat the remainder.

I couldn't see any slug or snail trails, so could be wood lice.

Slugs … I’d put money on it.
Some slugs live in the soil and don’t leave slime trails.
