Moving a weigela shrub

Hello
I have a well established weigela shrub (about 11 years old) which I would like to move to another part of my garden.  What is the best time of year to do this, how do I do it and is it ok to prune it first (it's about 6ft tall and very bushy)?

    Yes - best to prune it back a bit as it'll be easier to get it established. If you're unsure about moving it just now, ie if conditions are hot and dry,  wait until it's dormant in autumn and do it then. 
    Prep the new hole for it, make sure it's been watered well enough, then get as much root ball as possible. Replant at the same depth, water in well, and apply a mulch of compost or similar. It should be fine.
    You may not get flowers next year, but it will be ok the following year   :)
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

    Why not take some cuttings, to be on the safe side?

    Thanks Posy.  I had that same thought and tried taking some cuttings a few days ago.  Let's see what happens....... :D

    I think I'll keep taking cuttings between now and actually moving it and hopefully I'll have all bases covered!
