Hole in lawn
After a summer with both heavy rain and sunshine a hole around 1ft deep and 1ft wide. Has appeared in our lawn. The only things I find on Google are from US sites saying it is a gopher hole. Since we are in Kent in the UK I think it unlikely and there is only one hole so moles are unlikely. Any ideas?

Is there anything like a drain under the lawn - that could have collapsed?
Or do you think it's animal? It's a big hole, but it could be badgers or similar, depending on where you are - ie rural, urban etc.

or ant hills?
I think we need to see a photo …
