What is Dahlietta?

msqingxiaomsqingxiao Posts: 482
Hi all, I bought two of these lovely so-called "Dahlietta"s from my local Sainsbury's a month or so ago and they've been producing really nice flowers non-stop. Now I'm starting to think if / how I can overwinter these. Reading some old posts on the forum suggests that they may be annuals? But also produce tubers like Dahlias?

If anyone can share some experience it would be great. Thanks!

New to me. Yes, you treat them the same as regular dahlias. Bring tubers inside in winter, or if in the ground and in the UK south you might be able to keep in the ground and mulch heavily. Or if it large pots, cover to waterproof and fleece.

Thanks Fire! To be safe guess I'll bring the tubers inside for the winter. Hope they'll still produce the same abundance of flowers next year  :)

If they make it through, the tubers should fatten out each year and you can take tuber cuttings to make more plants. I got about 30 plants from five dalia tubers in the spring and all grew well. I'm pretty amazed.
