Zonal pelargonium petals

Hi, does anyone know if you can use the petals of zonal pelargoniums in the bath at all?

I don’t see any reason why you couldn’t. It won’t bring any benefits, apart from a cheerful splash of colour. The leaves of rose scented pelargoniums might work better.
  • Thank you for the advice. I’ve been reading lots about the scented pelargoniums so might have to try growing some of those as well.  I think the leaves of the zonal ones are probably better for scent than the petals (it’s a nostalgic thing from when I was a child) but I couldn’t find anything out about them from looking online or in my aromatherapy books!

The essential oil is mostly extracted from a rose scented pelargonium called graveolens. It’s worth growing a scented leaf one, I find the smell irresistible. Very good placed where you can gently brush against it. It’s probably what cats think about catnip.
  • Fantastic, that sounds like something I will probably like a lot! 🙂🙂
  • So many wonderful scented ones, from apple and cinnamon to rose, oak and lemon. Really worthwhile having a few if you can protect them in the winter.

  • Seems like quite a lot are good for eating too!
