Can someone help me deadhead this Salvia (if it needs doing)?

I'm about to plant this Salvia Sensation but can't figure out if the flowers are spent or just coming through, when I run my hands through it lots of tiny little things (seeds?) drop off.  I watched a youtube video but can't make out how far back she cut - I couldn't see what she was referring to in the video.  I know I sound like I don't know what I'm talking about - that's because I really don't. :D

I will be forever grateful is someone could explain (in simple terms) what needs to be done to this plant before it goes in the ground.



This is the only part on the plant that I can see what looks like closed flower buds

    I've just done the same to mine as you have done @ren.b - but bending over other plants on one leg in the bed and the other waving about trying not to tread on other things!  You did right to cut it back before planting out.  Very naughty @gondor!

    lol that's 'cos it's my first salvia - I will be doing same thing when it's in the border - but with added swearing ... :D
